Message: Dear Solar People, We plan to build a home starting construction this coming spring on Little Dear Isle, Maine. The home will be about 2500 sq. ft. right at the water’s edge. We are investigating the possibility of using a solar system to help heat both the home and provide hot water. Our family are builders and will do the construction complete with framing, plumbing, electrical, concrete and finishing. As such we will be looking for systems that come in kits. Please provide via email information that will assist us in this endeavor. Thank You, Bill Pladson
Hi Bill, Yes we are certainly interested in working with you to provide a solar kit to assist your domestic hot water and home heating requirements. What type home heating system were you thinking about installing along with solar. ( Force air furnace, hydronics in either in floor or radiator type) What is you main source of power to operate your equipment electricity, natural gas etc. How many people in the home need to determine estimated daily hot water usage. If you provide me with that information I will be able do a simulation solar report that will show you what percentage of your total energy required can be achieve by our solar thermal kit. I would suggest you also review this website www.solartubs.com for pricing and technical information on all our solar products we offer. Look forward to hearing from you in the near future. While the design of the home is still underway it seems pretty clear that it will be a one story building using floor radiant heat with 3 zones. We will use a tank less water heater large enough to carry the full load fueled by propane. There will be 3 people living in the house, me, my wife and granny. The house will have 4 bedrooms and 3 baths. Additionally, there will be a guest quarters above a detached garage. I hope this helps you with enough information to get started. Bill
